Omar Abdullah’s Plea to Ganderbal Voters: ‘My Honor in Your Hands’

After 16 years, Mr. Abdullah announced his candidacy for MLA of Ganderbal, expressing his hope to serve the people once again. He emphasized the suffering of the people of Ganderbal since 2016 and vowed to address their difficulties in the upcoming weeks. Rahul Gandhi, an ally of the National Conference, was also present in the Union Territory, showing his support for the Congress candidate in Anantnag. Mr. Abdullah, who had previously contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls but lost, had a change of heart and decided to contest the assembly polls. He explained his decision in an exclusive interview with NDTV, stating that as a leader of the National Conference, he felt it was his duty to lead and represent the people. He acknowledged the flaws of the assembly but emphasized its importance in fighting for the rights of the people and working towards restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the significance of the assembly in advocating for the people, despite its imperfections.
