iPhone 16 Manufactured and Released Worldwide from Indian Factories, Says Union Minister

The iPhone 16 lineup was recently unveiled at Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event. Apple introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which are equipped with Apple Intelligence, described as an easy-to-use personal intelligence system that provides relevant and helpful intelligence while safeguarding user privacy. Notably, this marks the first time Apple has manufactured its iPhone 16 Pro models outside of China, signaling a significant change in the company’s global production strategy.

In an announcement, it was highlighted that Apple’s latest iPhone 16 is being produced and launched worldwide from Indian factories, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. This move illustrates Apple’s strategic approach to diversifying its manufacturing base and strengthening its global supply chain resilience. Mentioned by GSM Arena, the decision to assemble the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India is part of a broader trend among companies to reduce their reliance on single countries for production.

Over the past seven years, Apple has been progressively increasing its production in India. This expansion is expected to elevate India’s share in Apple’s total iPhone production from around 14 per cent earlier this year to 25 per cent by the following year. Furthermore, reports suggest that Apple is planning to exclusively produce the upcoming iPhone 17 in India.

By diversifying its production strategy, Apple aims to mitigate risks associated with depending too heavily on any single country, especially in light of geopolitical shifts and supply chain uncertainties.
