Savitri Jindal, India’s Wealthiest Woman, to Run Independently in Haryana Assembly Elections

Savitri Jindal, a 74-year-old woman and the wife of the late industrialist O P Jindal, filed her nomination for the upcoming elections in Haryana. She will be contesting against Haryana Minister and sitting MLA Kamal Gupta for the Hisar seat. According to Forbes India, she is the richest woman in the country this year with a net worth of USD 29.1 billion. The polling for the 90 Assembly seats in Haryana is scheduled for October 5, and the results will be declared on October 8.

After filing her nomination, Savitri Jindal expressed her dedication to serving the development and transformation of Hisar. She emphasized her close relationship with the people of Hisar and their trust in her. Savitri Jindal stated that her family has a history of serving Hisar, and she is committed to meeting the expectations of the people. When asked about her decision to contest against the ruling party, she clarified that it would not be considered rebellion as she is not a member of the BJP.

Having previously served as an MLA representing Hisar, Savitri Jindal’s political career began in 2005 as a Congress MLA. She was reelected from the seat in 2009 and served as a minister in the Singh Hooda government in 2013.
