Mob assaults motorcyclist following alleged assault on woman in Mumbai road rage incident, say police.

A case has been registered against Shahen Alam Sheikh, a 33-year-old biker, under section 118. The incident took place on a Saturday night when the woman was waiting for a taxi on Nizam Street under the JJ flyover. The accused, riding a motorcycle, allegedly hit her leg. When the woman confronted him, he verbally abused her, pushed her down, and hit her on the head with his motorcycle helmet.

A crowd gathered and started beating up Sheikh, who claimed to be in the police force and tried to flee. Local police intervened, saved Sheikh from the mob, and took him to a nearby hospital, where his damaged two-wheeler was also found. Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was filed against Sheikh under section 118, 79, and other relevant provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The police later detained and released Sheikh after serving him a notice.
