MK Stalin’s twist on PM’s ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ in Tamil Nadu for Lok Sabha Election 2024

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin recently took a swipe at the Prime Minister’s frequent visits to the southern state, likening them to migratory birds returning during election season. This comment was made in the context of the Prime Minister’s guaranty card promises.

Stalin also demanded guarantees for various issues such as reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, employment for two crore young individuals annually, and a review of the single-window common test’s impact on states’ education decision-making abilities. Stalin further urged the Prime Minister to address concerns related to fuel prices, the Swaminathan Commission’s recommended minimum support price for farmers, and the annulment of the military’s Agnipath scheme.

He emphasized his party’s rejection of the Citizenship Amendment Act and opposition to what they perceive as “anti-people laws” introduced by the BJP. The Chief Minister highlighted that the promises conveyed during the election campaign were not just from the DMK manifesto but were a reflection of the people’s aspirations.

These include commitments to lower petrol and diesel prices, abolish the Uniform Civil Code, and ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies. The stage featured not only political vows but also jabs at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Chief Minister’s son, who was involved in a controversy surrounding ‘*Sanatana Dharma*’.

The election results are expected to be announced on June 4. In the previous election in 2019, the DMK-Congress alliance clinched victory in 38 of the 39 seats in the state, with the DMK securing 24 seats, the Congress 10, and the AIADMK one.

The BJP did not win any seats.
