AAP on Raaj Kumar Anand: “Whole BJP Accused Him of Corruption” After Minister Resignation

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that every minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is facing a test, alluding to the scrutiny and house search of a party leader by central agencies in connection with an alleged corruption case. The leader announced his decision to resign from the party, citing its alleged involvement in corrupt practices, despite joining AAP due to its strong stance against corruption. Specifically, the leader who handled the social welfare, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes portfolio expressed his reasons for quitting the party. Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj highlighted the Enforcement Directorate’s lengthy raid on the house of Raaj Kumar Anand, emphasizing the allegations made by the BJP regarding Anand’s involvement in corruption.

Bhardwaj reiterated the assertion that the BJP’s motive behind the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal was to dismantle AAP and declared that every minister and MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party is being put to the test. Bhardwaj emphasized the resilience required in the face of these circumstances, acknowledging that some individuals may retreat or succumb to weak morale, while others will confront the challenges presented. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a search at Mr. Anand’s house in connection with a customs-linked money laundering case, following allegations of false import declarations for customs evasions amounting to over Rs 7 crore. Meanwhile, AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi accused the BJP of attempting to poach several party leaders.

This accusation led to a defamation suit filed by the BJP against her, which was escalated through a complaint to the Election Commission. The developments culminated in Anand becoming the first AAP leader to publicly resign from the party, while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy Manish Sisodia, and senior leader Satyender Jain remained in custody. Sanjay Singh was the only leader released on bail.
