Kiran Rao on her relationship with Aamir Khan’s first wife Reena Dutta: “We are a family. I hang out with her”

Aamir, Kiran, Reena, and Ira were all present at the wedding. Kiran mentioned to The Week that inclusivity comes naturally to their family, and they didn’t have to think about it, as they all consider themselves a close-knit family.

They often have Monday night dinners together, and they all live in the same housing society. Kiran emphasized that they genuinely enjoy each other’s company and maintain their relationships even though she and Aamir have parted ways as a couple.

Kiran also shared about the thoughtful gift she received from Ira, expressing her surprise and gratitude. Ira is a talented painter and gifted her a painting of the street where Cafe Cinema is located.

Kiran was deeply touched by the gesture, especially amidst the busyness of wedding planning. In other news, Kiran Rao is set to make her directorial comeback after ten years with the film *Laapataa Ladies*, which is scheduled for release in March.

She shared a trailer of the film and mentioned the writers and a prestigious screening at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce in July 2021 after 15 years of marriage, but they continue to co-parent their son Azad and are frequently seen together.

Ira is Aamir Khan’s younger child with his ex-wife Reena Dutta.
