It was unexpected, but he took the time to stop by and even purchased a kilo of Gulab Jamun, a sweet he enjoys. He also sampled other sweets on display and spent around 25-30 minutes at the shop. His visit was a welcome surprise for the staff, and they were delighted to see him. During his visit, Rahul Gandhi also bought the famous sweet Mysore Pak, which he later gifted to DMK chief MK Stalin. This gesture was reported by the Congress party on a micro-blogging site. This event took place ahead of the polling for 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, scheduled for the 1st phase of general elections on April 19. The results of the elections are set to be announced on June 4. In the 2019 general elections, the Congress-DMK-led alliance achieved success, securing 38 out of 39 seats in the state, with AIADMK winning only one seat.
