Adhir Chowdhury’s Confrontation with “Drunk” Man on Busy Road Caught on Video

Mr. Chowdhury, who is seeking re-election from the constituency, has accused the Trinamool Congress of attempting to hinder his campaign efforts. He alleged that the ruling party had initiated this practice during last year’s civic polls as well.

According to Mr. Chowdhury, the local TMC is behind this ploy, aiming to discourage people from supporting the Congress party. He stated, “This is nothing but a ploy to stop me,” and believes it to be an organized effort by the TMC.

Mr. Chowdhury described an incident where he was confronted by a group shouting “Go back, go back!” He claimed that he later discovered it was organized by the TMC, but emphasized that they would not succeed in stopping him.

He also informed the district superintendent of police about the situation and sought intervention. In response to these allegations, the Trinamool Congress accused Mr. Chowdhury of engaging in “hooliganism” and described the incident as a display of “thuggery.”

The party emphasized Mr. Chowdhury’s fear of losing elections and warned against using muscle power to intimidate their workers. The TMC has fielded former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan against Mr. Chowdhury, who has held the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency since 1999.

The polls are scheduled to take place in Baharampur on May 13.
