Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Vows Strong Response to Iran Attack: “Iran, Israel, Gaza: We’ll Harm Them

In a recent statement, Mr. Netanyahu emphasized the strength of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the public in response to Iran’s threats. The Prime Minister highlighted Israel’s readiness for a direct attack and the deployment of defensive systems, as well as the nation’s preparedness for any scenario, both defensively and offensively.

Iran and its allies conducted coordinated assaults on Israeli positions, leading to sirens blaring in various areas and explosions heard above Jerusalem. This escalation followed threats of retaliation from Iran after an airstrike on its consulate in Damascus.

The United States had repeatedly warned about potential reprisals. Expressing appreciation for the support of the US, Britain, France, and other countries, Mr. Netanyahu stressed Israel’s determination to defend itself against any threat.

Efforts to secure a ceasefire through intermediaries such as Egypt, Qatar, and the US have thus far been unsuccessful. Regarding ceasefire discussions, Mr. Netanyahu sanctioned a new cycle of negotiations to take place in Doha and Cairo.

However, tensions persist as approximately 250 hostages, taken by Hamas militants during previous assaults, remain in captivity. The Israeli military confirmed Iran’s launch of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) towards Israeli territory, underscoring cooperation with the US and regional partners to counter the attacks.

US President Joe Biden reaffirmed unwavering support for Israel after discussions with his top security officials. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards acknowledged the drone and missile strike in retaliation for the Damascus attack.

This action was celebrated in Tehran, where people gathered to wave Iranian and Palestinian flags. The Israeli army reported intercepting a large swarm of drones and missiles launched by Iran, with fighter jets deployed to counter the aerial threats.

Iran’s allies in the region, including Yemen’s Huthi rebels and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, also joined the attack. Amid this escalating conflict, international responses varied, with the UK, France, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia condemning Iran’s actions and calling for restraint.

Despite these condemnations and efforts to achieve a ceasefire, the situation remains volatile.
