Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Ex BJP MLA Sanjay Patil Requests Karnataka Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar for Additional Drink. Her Reply

Sanjay Patil, the former BJP MLA, expressed at a party workers’ meeting that the support of women for the BJP is increasing in Karnataka. He mentioned that this rise in women’s support for the BJP would cause concern for Ms. Hebbalkar of the Congress, whose son Mrinal is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Belagavi seat.

During the meeting, Mr. Patil stated, “Hebbalkar will not get good sleep looking at the rising support of women for the BJP in Belagavi. She has to have a sleeping pill or an extra peg to get a good night’s sleep.”

Mr. Jarkiholi had faced a significant scandal in March 2021, with local news channels airing sexual content on a CD allegedly involving him. In response to Mr. Patil’s comments, Ms. Hebbalkar condemned his remarks in a video statement.

She questioned whether Mr. Patil’s comment reflects the respect the BJP holds for women. Ms. Hebbalkar asserted, “This shows the respect BJP has towards women.

This is the hidden agenda of BJP. It’s not enough if you chant *beti bachao, beti padhao*; you must respect women.”

She further criticized Mr. Patil’s remarks as disrespect not only to her but also to all the women of the state and the nation, emphasizing that it contradicts the Hindu culture that Mr. Patil often speaks about. In the context of the upcoming elections in Belagavi, where Mrinal Ravindra Hebbalkar is contesting against BJP candidate and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Ms. Hebbalkar highlighted the differences between her and Shettar, stating, “Shettar is from Hubballi and we are from Belagavi.

We know the problems here better than any ‘outsider’.” She also expressed skepticism about Shettar’s allegiance, questioning why he joined Congress and criticized the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
