5 people dead and multiple injured in Odisha after bus falls from bridge en route to Kolkata.

Five people, including a woman, died in a tragic accident in Odisha’s Jajpur district. Several others were reported injured after a Kolkata-bound bus fell from a bridge on Monday evening.

The accident occurred around 9 pm on Barabati bridge on National Highway-16 while the bus, carrying 40 passengers, was traveling from Puri to Kolkata. Rescue operations are currently underway at the accident site.

In response to the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his condolences for the lives lost and announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the families of the deceased.
