Glenn Maxwell Takes Indefinite Break From IPL 2024, Explains Decision To RCB

Maxwell recently announced during a press conference after RCB’s loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad that he is taking a break due to his current mental and physical state. He did not specify the duration of his break. He expressed that he approached Faf [du Plessis] and the coaches after the last game, stating that it was time for someone else to be given a chance.

Maxwell acknowledged that he has been in similar situations before and believes it is the right time to take a break to rejuvenate himself. Maxwell mentioned that his performance has not been up to his usual standards and he wants to give someone else an opportunity to show their skills. He hopes that during the tournament, he can make a strong impact upon his return.

This is not the first time Maxwell has taken a break due to mental fatigue. He recognizes the unpredictability of T20 cricket and feels he hasn’t performed at his best so far in the tournament. He explained that even when he made good decisions in the first few games, things did not go his way.

He emphasized that he just hasn’t been able to get going and believes it’s as simple as that.
