BCCI Sets Strict Hardik Pandya T20 World Cup Selection Condition in Rohit Sharma Meeting

The batter, Hardik, has not performed well this season, only scoring 131 runs in 6 matches at an average of 26.20. Additionally, his bowling has been inconsistent, with limited opportunities and poor performance when he has bowled.

As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee has emphasized the importance of Hardik bowling regularly in order to be considered for selection in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Hardik’s performance with the ball this season has been subpar, conceding runs in all phases of the game.

Notably, his selection has been called into question due to his limited impact as a powerplay bowler, middle-overs bowler, and death bowler. The selectors have also expressed concern that he only plays as an impact player for his team, suggesting a lack of consistent contribution.

In contrast, another all-rounder, Dube, has shown promise with his power-hitting as a left-handed batter, particularly against spinners. However, despite his potential as a bowler, he has not been utilized in this role by his team, Chennai Super Kings, this season.

If selected for the T20 World Cup, he is expected to be used as a part-time bowler rather than a full all-rounder who can deliver 4 overs for the team.
