No Days Off for Flipkart and BigBasket Delivery Agents, Complaint Filed admin, April 17, 2024 A complaint was filed before the Tamil Nadu state election commissioner, B Kothi Nirmalasamy, by Chennai High Court lawyer K Narasimhan on Wednesday. In the complaint, Narasimhan stated that despite the state government declaring April 19 as a public holiday for the election day, online platforms such as Flipkart and BigBasket are continuing to guarantee delivery of orders on that day. According to Narasimhan, this is a violation of the government order and raises concerns regarding the rights of delivery personnel. Narasimhan demanded an investigation into the claims of e-commerce companies guaranteeing delivery on voting day, and urged authorities to take appropriate measures to protect the democratic rights of all workers, regardless of their origin. In response to the allegations, Flipkart stated that it is providing paid holidays to eligible employees and is following the directives and guidelines provided by the authorities for polling day. It was mentioned that the complaint has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. Tamil Nadu State Election
