The ceremony, which took place today, involves anointing the idol of Ram Lalla with a ray of sunlight. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conceptualized the ceremony to blend ancient and modern technology in the temple’s construction. Nripendra Misra mentioned that the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony will be an annual event. During this year’s ceremony, a ray of sunlight, focused using mirrors and lenses by 10 eminent scientists, adorned the idol’s forehead for three to three-and-a-half minutes starting at noon. Mr Misra attributed the idea to Prime Minister Modi, who emphasized the incorporation of both ancient and new technologies in the temple’s construction. The Prime Minister’s vision for technology and his support for new ideas were highlighted by Mr Misra, who noted that the PM recommended consulting scientific research institutions. The construction committee chief stressed the PM’s influential yet non-interfering approach, expressing confidence in the possibilities presented by his suggestions. Regarding future ceremonies, Mr Misra affirmed the trust’s commitment to ensuring the annual occurrence of the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony, with plans to make the process foolproof by next year. He explained that the construction of the temple’s ‘shikhar’ has not been completed, necessitating adjustments this year. He anticipated a larger attendance next year. Speaking about the construction progress, Mr Misra acknowledged the challenge of managing a high volume of daily visitors to ensure their safety.
