Arvind Kejriwal’s Request for Sweets and Mangoes in Jail Opposed by Enforcement Directorate admin, April 18, 2024 The Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is facing allegations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has accused him of endangering his health while in custody. Atishi, a member of his party, claimed that there is a plan to harm Kejriwal by keeping him in jail if the BJP fails to defeat him in the Delhi Assembly elections. She emphasized Kejriwal’s severe diabetes condition, which requires him to take 54 units of insulin daily to control his sugar levels. Atishi criticized the BJP and its affiliate, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), for making false claims and attempting to compromise Kejriwal’s health. The ED alleged that Kejriwal regularly consumed foods that are not recommended for diabetic patients, such as mangoes and sweets. Atishi defended Kejriwal, stating that he was allowed to have tea and sweets with a sweetener prescribed by his doctor. She also mentioned the court’s directive for Kejriwal to have home-cooked food, bottled water, and a supply of toffees while in custody. The allegations against Kejriwal stem from his involvement in a now-scrapped policy and accusations of seeking bribes in exchange for liquor licenses. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the Supreme Court, although a hearing has been deferred until April 29. He continues to face legal challenges and accusations from the BJP and the ED.
