Ex-Classmate Stabs Woman 7 Times in Karnataka College After Advances Rejected

The victim in this case was the daughter of a Congress corporator. Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was a first-year Master of Computer Applications student at the BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubballi. Officials mentioned that she had known her attacker, Fayaz, for some time, as they had studied together at the college.

Fayaz, who had dropped out of college, confronted Neha while she was walking inside the campus, and the CCTV footage shows an exchange of words between the two before he attacked her. Neha’s mother expressed her disbelief and shock at the incident, stating that she still believes her daughter is alive. She mentioned that she hasn’t seen her daughter’s condition and can’t accept that she’s gone.

The family had sent Neha to college with the hope of seeing her smiling. Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar reported that Neha was taken to the hospital but was declared brought dead. The police arrested the accused within 90 minutes of the incident.

According to the commissioner, other students revealed that Neha and the accused were acquainted and had studied together. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge from the accused’s interrogation. Outside the Vidyanagar police station in Hubballi, a large group of right-wing activists gathered and shouted slogans in response to the tragic incident.
