Arvind Kejriwal Report on Tihar’s Insulin Delivery Reaches Lt Governor, Atishi Alleges Threat to Him admin, April 20, 2024 The Aam Aadmi Party has been raising concerns about the health of their leader, Arvind Kejriwal, alleging a conspiracy by the BJP to harm him while in jail. They claim that despite Kejriwal’s long-standing need for insulin due to his diabetes, the Tihar Jail authorities have been denying him insulin administration. In response, the Tihar jail report stated that medical records from RML Hospital did not indicate any requirement for insulin for Kejriwal. The report mentioned that a specialist reviewed his health and concluded that his blood sugar levels did not warrant insulin administration at that time. The Tihar administration also highlighted Mr. Kejriwal’s dietary habits, citing a reliance on high-sugar and high-cholesterol foods. They mentioned receiving a diet plan from AIIMS which restricted many of the food items he had been consuming and limited his oil intake to 20 ml per day. Additionally, the report addressed the demand for a videoconference with Kejriwal’s private doctor, stating that no referral to a private hospital could be made as per government policy. The administration asserted that there was adequate insulin available in the jail dispensary for Kejriwal when required. The report also brought into question the circumstances surrounding Kejriwal’s purported treatment at a private clinic in Telangana, raising doubts about the lack of medical documentation and alleging potential ties to the excise scam that led to his arrest. The Aam Aadmi Party continued to push for insulin administration for Kejriwal, alleging inhumane treatment and an attempt to harm him while in judicial custody. The party emphasized the severity of Kejriwal’s diabetes and the need for insulin, despite the Tihar report’s assertions. In light of these differing claims and concerns, the dispute over Kejriwal’s medical treatment and insulin administration while in Tihar jail has become a contentious issue between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Tihar administration.
