Top Tihar Official Amid Arvind Kejriwal Insulin Row: “One Rule For All

Mr. Beniwal of Tihar jail’s party has alleged a conspiracy to murder him. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, he mentioned that Tihar has approximately 1,000 diabetic prisoners who are given food and medication as per senior doctors’ advice from institutions such as AIIMS and Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. He further stated that they are accustomed to facing such pressure and it is a part of life.

Mr. Kejriwal, who has been arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, has alleged that he has been deprived of insulin since his arrest on March 21. His request for a video call with a private practitioner was denied by the special court in Delhi. His party, Aam Aadmi Party, has been protesting outside the Tihar jail.

In response, Mr. Beniwal called the allegations “baseless” and stated that they will adhere to the court’s instructions. He emphasized that they have answered the allegations in court and will obey the court’s decisions. Additionally, he questioned the validity of the allegations, asking if it is possible to administer slow poison in jail.

He clarified the process for managing prisoners’ medical needs, explaining that they seek advice from referral hospitals outside the jail when the illness is serious. The referral hospitals include AIIMS, RML and others, and this process is standard for all prisoners. He emphasized that there is no special treatment for any particular prisoner.
