Sourav Ganguly Supports Star Pair to Open for India at T20 World Cup

Delhi Capitals is currently at eighth place in the points table with six points after three wins and five losses. They lost their last game to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Speaking during a media event in Delhi, Ganguly emphasized the importance for India to play without fear in T20 cricket.

He highlighted the significance of aggressive batting and praised Virat Kohli’s ability to score a quick century. Ganguly also expressed his belief in the exceptional talents and six-hitting abilities of Indian players, stating that Yashasvi Jaiswal’s name has not dropped too far down the ladder and that selection for the T20 World Cup should not be solely based on one IPL season. Regarding the T20 World Cup, Ganguly stressed the need for a balanced Indian team with a mix of experience and youth, citing the importance of considering players’ performances in both the IPL and international matches.

Ganguly also discussed the Impact Player rule in the IPL, stating that it has not diminished the role of all-rounders but rather provided teams with the option to field a more impactful batter in place of an average all-rounder. He highlighted the contributions of good all-rounders and expressed the influence of IPL performances on the selection of the T20 World Cup squad, while urging selectors to consider players’ performances over the past few seasons.
