Hezbollah Launches Rockets At Israel Following Iran’s Pledge of “Harsher Response admin, April 22, 2024 Hezbollah has recently increased its attacks on Israeli military installations. The group, based in Lebanon, receives financial and military support from Iran. The attacks are reportedly a response to Israeli incursions into southern Lebanese villages, including strikes on Srifa, Odaisseh, and Rab Tlatin. The Israeli military identified approximately 35 rocket launches from Lebanon into the Ein Zeitim area but reported no casualties. In retaliation, Israeli forces targeted the sources of the rocket fire, leading to mounting casualties on both sides. In Lebanon, at least 376 people, mostly Hezbollah fighters, and 70 civilians have been killed. On the Israeli side, 10 soldiers and eight civilians have died. Tensions between Israel and Iran are heightened, with Iran responding sternly to recent provocations. In particular, near the Iranian city of Isfahan, explosions were heard in what is believed to be an Israeli strike, drawing a condemnation from Iran and reports of Iran’s successful defense against the assault. Elsewhere, rockets originating from northern Iraq were launched at a military installation in Syria housing a coalition led by the United States. While no US personnel were injured, tension continued to escalate, including protests in Israel over individuals held captive by Hamas in Gaza. In the US, tensions also flared on university campuses over protests against the Israel-Hamas conflict, leading to arrests at Yale University and a “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” at Columbia University. Hamas launched an unprecedented attack against Israel on October 7, resulting in the deaths of 1,170 people. Israel’s retaliation has so far killed at least 34,151 people in the Gaza Strip, mainly women and children. Middle East Conflict
