Sanju Samson favored for India captaincy following snub of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya

Harbhajan Singh has been tipped as a potential candidate for becoming India’s full-time white-ball captain after Rohit Sharma. However, Harbhajan Singh has expressed a different opinion.

He believes that Sanju Samson should be included in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and also groomed as the next T20 captain for India after Rohit. This was expressed in a tweet after Rajasthan Royals’ 9-wicket win over Mumbai Indians.

In the tweet, he emphasized the importance of form over a temporary period and praised Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance as a proof of his class being permanent. Harbhajan specifically mentioned that there should be no debate about the keeper-batsman and that Sanju Samson should be included in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.

Sanju Samson has been in splendid form for the Royals in the 2024 IPL season, leading the franchise to the top of the standings after 8 games. He has been the second-highest run-scorer for the franchise, accumulating a total of 314 runs from 8 games at an average of 62.80 and a strike-rate of 152.42.

Comparatively, Hardik Pandya has not performed well in the season so far, whether it be as a batter, bowler, or captain.
