The police reported that a boundary wall on the eastern side of the elevated platform collapsed onto the road below around 11 am, sharing details of the incident. The victim, identified as 53-year-old Vinod Kumar from Karawal Nagar, was involved in the incident. Another individual, Ajit Kumar from Ghaziabad, suffered serious injuries after getting trapped under the debris while riding his two-wheeler. Three others named Monu, Sandeep, and Mohd Tazir sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Additionally, at least four two-wheelers were buried under the debris. Two officials, including a manager and a junior engineer, have been suspended, as announced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). A compensation of Rs 25 lakh has been pledged for the victim’s family. Delhi Metro has also announced Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries and Rs 5 lakh for serious injuries. Video clips circulating on social media depict authorities removing the rubble from the collapse site. Train services between Maujpur and Shiv Vihar are functioning on a single line, while services on the rest of the Pink Line remain unchanged, according to Delhi Metro. The statement further explains the precautionary measure taken to maintain train services on the small stretch from Maujpur to Shiv Vihar due to the fallen portion towards the Up platform on Gokulpuri station, which has also been temporarily closed. However, train services on the rest of the Pink Line continue to operate normally.
