Australia Criticizes Hardik Pandya as MI Skipper, Saying “Don’t Think…”

Hardik recently made a high-profile move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians, where he replaced Rohit as the team’s skipper. The decision was not well-received by fans, who expressed their displeasure by booing Hardik at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

With Mumbai Indians winning only three out of their eight matches, they are facing challenges in securing a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. Former cricketer Doull acknowledged the difficulty of taking over a historically successful franchise and noted Hardik’s existing captaincy skills from his time at Gujarat.

However, he also remarked that Hardik still has room for growth in his new role. Another former player, Gilchrist, expressed concerns about Hardik’s strategic decision-making as captain, referencing batting and bowling changes.

On the other hand, Rayudu highlighted Hardik’s role in the Indian team, emphasizing his ability to hit boundaries and accelerate the game, particularly when spinners are operating and conditions are slow. He suggested that Hardik and Jadeja have complementary roles in the team, intended to fit specific phases of the game.
