Proud Moment for India Pacer Mohammed Shami as He Casts Vote in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha admin, April 26, 2024 After casting his vote, Indian cricketer Shami urged citizens to exercise their right to vote and “elect the government of their choice”. He expressed his pride in Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning him in a speech in Amroha and praising him and his game. Voting took place in eight parliamentary constituencies of Uttar Pradesh during the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls. This phase covered constituencies such as Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr. The voting commenced at 7 am across 88 constituencies in 13 states and union territories in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Prime Minister Modi had earlier conveyed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of Shami after he underwent an operation on his Achilles tendon in February. Presently, Shami is undergoing rehabilitation for his Achilles tendon injury. In an injury update shared on April 19, he expressed his anticipation for a comeback. Shami last represented India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November, where he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 24 wickets in seven matches.
