CRPF Officer Khajan Singh, an Arjuna Awardee, Found Guilty of Sexual Abuse, and May Face Dismissal admin, April 26, 2024 Khajan Singh, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank chief sports officer of the CRPF, has been reported to have sexually harassed women personnel within the paramilitary force, according to sources. The CRPF conducted an investigation following these allegations and subsequently found him guilty. As a result, the country’s largest paramilitary force submitted a report to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), prompting the Home Ministry to take action for his dismissal. A senior officer stated, “An enquiry was conducted by the CRPF against the officer. Following due process of law, action was taken, and a report was submitted to the UPSC. Now, the UPSC recommended his dismissal. The MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) has also approved it. The CRPF has issued dismissal notice to the officer.” Prior to serving as the CRPF chief sports officer, Singh had achieved a silver medal at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games in the 200 meters butterfly event, marking India’s first swimming medal at the event since 1951. Currently stationed in Mumbai, Singh has not yet issued a statement in response to the dismissal notice, for which he has been given a 15-day window. As per reports from news agency PTI, he faces two charges, and the dismissal notice has been issued in one case, while the investigation in the other case is ongoing. Singh had previously refuted the allegations as “absolutely false” and designed to “spoil his image.” The CRPF, which boasts approximately 3.25 lakh personnel, first integrated women into combat ranks in 1986. The force includes six all-women battalions with an overall strength of 8,000 personnel, as well as women personnel serving in sports and other administrative wings. Khajan Singh
