Former Indian Star Excludes Rinku Singh from His T20 World Cup Squad despite Urging Selectors

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar expressed hope that Rinku Singh would not be overlooked by selectors due to his lack of batting opportunities. He advocated for Rinku’s inclusion in the 15-man probables for the T20 World Cup. Manjrekar highlighted Rinku’s potential and consistency as a valuable asset to the Indian team.

However, despite his earlier endorsement, Manjrekar has excluded Rinku from his own T20 World Cup squad. Rinku Singh, a left-handed batsman, made his debut for India in a T20I against Ireland in 2023. He has displayed promising performance, scoring 356 runs in 15 T20Is with a notable strike rate of 176.23.

Rinku’s ability to excel in finishing and provide an impetus to the team’s batting in the death overs has been acknowledged, particularly during the IPL. Despite limited opportunities, he has made a significant impact for Kolkata Knight Riders with his batting prowess.
