2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Priyanka Gandhi Adds a Twist to BJP’s ‘Ab Ki Baar’ Slogan

Priyanka Gandhi addressed a rally in Maharashtra’s Latur, where she criticized the BJP in the state, which accounts for the second-highest number of Lok Sabha MPs. She highlighted issues such as inflation and unemployment, asserting that the people have decided to vote out the current government. During her speech, she was interrupted by a person chanting a slogan in her party’s favor, which she utilized to take a dig at the BJP and PM Modi, emphasizing the changing mood of the people.

Ms. Gandhi expressed the importance of leaders upholding the responsibility to truthfully serve the people, instead of focusing on religion and caste. She urged voters to prioritize their own interests, such as infrastructural development, education, and employment, rather than supporting leaders or parties based on personal biases. Drawing a comparison with past Prime Ministers, she criticized PM Modi for diminishing the stature of the office by focusing on irrelevant issues instead of achievements.

Ms. Gandhi also pointed to the successful implementation of Congress’ guarantees in Karnataka as evidence of the credibility of its manifesto promises. She mentioned the ongoing election in Maharashtra, where the BJP and its allies face a tougher contest this time. The battle involves multiple factions within the Shiv Sena and the NCP, aligning with either the BJP or the Congress coalition.

This indicates a closer competition compared to the previous elections.
