Navi Mumbai Taxi Driver Arrested for Killing Woman Who Forced Him to Marry Her admin, April 27, 2024 The decomposed body of a 27-year-old woman was discovered wrapped in a blanket and discarded in a dried-up rivulet at Talekhar along Chirner-Kharpada in the Uran area of Navi Mumbai on April 25 morning. According to senior inspector Satish Nikam of Uran police station, the police sent the body for postmortem and registered a case against unidentified persons under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 302 (murder). During the investigation, the police received information about a woman who had been reported missing from Mankurd police station limits in neighboring Mumbai on April 18. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the body found in Uran was that of the missing woman. Further probe indicated that the woman was in a relationship with a taxi driver, a resident of Nagpada in Mumbai. The woman had been pressuring him to marry her, but he had refused, leading to a dispute between them. On April 18 evening, the man picked up the woman from Mankhurd and drove her to Khadavli in the Kalyan area of Thane district. Allegedly, he killed her around 1 am on April 19 and disposed of the body in the rivulet. The accused was apprehended on Saturday and presented before a local magistrate, who remanded him in police custody until April 29.
