Who is Sahil Khan and his involvement in the Mahadev Betting App case?

Mr Khan is a fitness entrepreneur and content creator with over 2.8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. He also owns a gym and was previously married to Iranian-born Norwegian actress Negar Khan. Recently, he has been in the spotlight for his alleged involvement in promoting a betting app, which led to his arrest after the Bombay High Court rejected his petition for interim bail. Reports indicate that he fled Mumbai following the rejection of his petition and has been remanded to four days in police custody.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has summoned Mr Khan, along with three others, for questioning about their alleged role in promoting the Mahadev betting app. The police investigation revealed that Mr Khan not only promoted the betting app but also participated in their events. However, Mr Khan denies any direct connection with the gambling platform and sought anticipatory bail after being questioned by the Mumbai Police SIT. The SIT is currently investigating illegal transactions between financial and real estate firms and the promoters of the Rs 15,000 crore Mahadev betting app.

In an effort to gather evidence, all mobile phones, laptops, and electronic devices linked to Mr Khan are being searched. It was discovered that the betting app’s customers were provided with fraudulent accounts for depositing and encashing money, and that all bets were rigged to ensure that the company did not lose money. This resulted in new users making quick money initially but ultimately incurring significant losses. Several other celebrities, such as Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Tamannaah Bhatia, have also been summoned for questioning regarding their involvement in promoting the betting app and its subsidiaries.
