JD(S) Plans to Suspend Deve Gowda’s Grandson Over Sex Scandal, Says HD Kumaraswamy admin, April 29, 2024 The former chief minister is working to distance JD(S) alliance partner BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the case, which has been the target of attacks by the ruling Congress. The BJP-JD(S) alliance candidate for the Lok Sabha election from the Hassan constituency, Prajwal is at the center of the controversy. The former chief minister claimed that neither he nor Deve Gowda were aware of the issue until it was decided to suspend Prajwal. The son of HD Revanna allegedly appeared in explicit video clips abusing multiple women, leading to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scandal. While stating that there are no direct allegations against Prajwal Revanna, Mr Kumaraswamy emphasized the need to investigate the creation and circulation of the explicit video clips. He also expressed that if the charges against Prajwal are proven true, punishment should be in accordance with the law, with no compromise. The former chief minister objected to the linking of the case with PM Modi, BJP, and the involvement of his family members. He emphasized that wrong is wrong, irrespective of who has committed it, and that there is no question of defending anyone. The former chief minister also addressed concerns about the whereabouts of Prajwal and denied prior knowledge of the matter, stating that the family’s involvement was separate and that they would have taken action if they had known. He suggested that a fair probe should be conducted and that the incident should not have a significant impact on the election results in Hassan. Mr Kumaraswamy also raised the question of a potential political conspiracy behind the leak of the video clips and emphasized the need for a fair probe by the SIT and government. He expressed confidence in the NDA candidate winning in Hassan but questioned the timing and motive behind the release of the video clips just before the election. Prajwal Revanna
