Uttarakhand Authority Cancels Licenses for 14 Patanjali Products admin, April 29, 2024 The Uttarakhand government submitted an affidavit stating that the State Licencing Authority has issued a public notice regarding the strict disciplinary and legal action, including fines, imprisonment, or both for the publication of advertisements contrary to the law. The affidavit mentioned that the Drug Inspector was granted permission to file a complaint against Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. for repeated violations of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. It specified that the manufacturing licenses for 14 products of Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. were suspended with immediate effect. A criminal complaint was filed against them under relevant sections of the act. The State Licencing Authority stated its intention to proceed with further actions against the companies according to the prescribed law and directions issued by the Supreme Court. The court had previously ordered the officers to explain their inaction in this matter. The Indian Medical Association has also sought action against Patanjali for the violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, which prohibits the advertisement of certain products for the treatment of specified diseases and disorders. Patanjali had given an undertaking to the Supreme Court regarding adhering to the regulations.
