PM Narendra Modi’s 2019 Balakot Strikes: Informed Pakistan Before Disclosing To World

The Prime Minister of India spoke at a poll rally in Karnataka’s Bagalkot, stating that he believes in open face-to-face combat rather than attacking from the back. He shared that he had asked the forces to inform the media and also notify Pakistan via telephone about the airstrikes conducted at night, but received no response from Pakistan.

He emphasized that India is prepared to take offensive action within enemy territory. During his speech, the Prime Minister also mentioned the confusion that arose when India conducted air strikes in Pakistan, with people initially thinking it was in the similarly named Bagalkot district of Karnataka.

The government’s statement cited credible intelligence indicating that JeM was planning a suicide terror attack in different parts of the country, prompting a non-military preemptive strike on the JeM camp. The strike was targeted to avoid civilian casualties and the facility was located far away from civilian presence, in a thick forest on a hilltop.
