Congress Releases Another Poll List for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, No Decision On Amethi, Raebareli admin, April 30, 2024 The party has announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In Haryana, actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar and former Union Minister Anand Sharma are among the four candidates who have been named in the fresh list. Mr. Babbar will contest against BJP’s Rao Inderjit Singh, while Mr. Sharma is up against the BJP’s Rajeev Bhardwaj. Former MLA Satpal Raizada has been fielded from the Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh, where he will be facing off against Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The battle is expected to be challenging as Mr. Thakur has won from there four times. In Maharashtra, the party has nominated Bhushan Patil, the vice president of its Mumbai unit, to contest against Union Minister Piyush Goyal in the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress’s decision on candidates for Raebareli and Amethi has been eagerly anticipated. Speculation suggests that former president Rahul Gandhi may contest from Amethi, which he lost to the BJP’s Smriti Irani in the 2019 elections. For Raebareli, the name doing the rounds is Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whose electoral debut is awaited. These potential candidatures are significant as Raebareli was the only seat in Uttar Pradesh that the Congress won in the 2019 elections. The Aam Aadmi Party, an ally of the Congress in Haryana, is contesting for the tenth Lok Sabha seat in the state. The last date for filing nominations for the Raebareli and Amethi seats is Friday, May 3, and the elections are scheduled for May 20. Raj Babbar
