Despite his modest performance for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL, where he scored 197 runs and took four wickets in 10 games, Sunil Gavaskar believes that Pandya’s performance in the international arena will be significantly different.

Gavaskar emphasized the distinction between playing in the IPL and representing one’s country, expressing confidence that Pandya will exhibit a more positive mindset when playing for India. He also asserted that Pandya will make valuable contributions with both bat and ball during the tournament.

Additionally, Gavaskar expressed his belief in the Indian team’s capability to reclaim the World Cup, considering them as strong title contenders. He highlighted the importance of luck at the international level and expressed confidence that the T20 World Cup would return to India.

Gavaskar also noted the conditioning of the players going into the World Cup, stating that the team would have just enough time to refresh themselves with a short break following the conclusion of the IPL. The T20 World Cup kicks off on June 5, with India playing their first match against Ireland in New York.
