TV Actress Rupali Ganguly Joins BJP, Cites PM Modi’s Work as Impressive

Actress Roopa Ganguly joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today ahead of the third-phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The event took place at the party’s headquarters in Kolkata and was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

Ms Ganguly expressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his work had attracted her to the party, stating “Seeing the ‘Mahayagya’ of development (development push) around me (under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi), I felt that I should also be a part of it.” She also expressed her intention to follow in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and serve fellow citizens in whichever role she is entrusted with, working under the guidance of Amit Shah to make all leaders and cadres proud of her.

Mr. Tawde welcomed her into the party and used the opportunity to criticize the Opposition over Samajwadi Party leader Maria Alam’s appeal for ‘love jihad’. Ms Alam had called for “vote jihad,” saying it was necessary for the minority community to dislodge the BJP from power.

Mr. Tawde stated, “This shows they are rattled,” and criticized the Opposition’s contradictory actions, mentioning their promise of OBC reservation for Muslims alongside talk of ‘vote jihad’ during elections.
