Anuj Thapan, accused in Salman Khan house firing case, dies by suicide in jail. admin, May 1, 2024 Anuj Thapan, 32, was arrested from Punjab on April 26. On the same day, he went to a toilet attached to the police lock-up at 11 am and took his own life. Sources mentioned that Thapan was staying with 10 other inmates in the lock-up, which was guarded by four to five policemen. Thapan and another accused, Sonu Subhash Chander, were allegedly involved in providing the weapons used in firing outside the Mumbai home of the actor from the movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ on April 14. The reasons that led Thapan to commit suicide are currently under investigation, according to the sources. Former Maharashtra senior police officer PK Jain told NDTV that any death in a lock-up is reported as a murder case. He stated that all the policemen in the police station will be questioned by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department). Jain also indicated that police typically ensure that lock-ups are checked for any objects that could be used for suicide. They also deploy a policeman to guard the lock-up to prevent inmates from escaping and to watch for any suicide attempts. Additionally, two other suspects, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who allegedly fired the shots, are also in police custody. Both were captured on CCTV leaving the area on a motorcycle on the night of the incident. It is noted that all four accused are related to Lawrence Bishnoi, a jailed gangster known for activities involving kidnapping, murder, and smuggling of weapons and narcotics. The Mumbai Crime Branch last month revealed strong evidence against Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi, identifying them as the most wanted suspects in the case. Since November 2022, Salman Khan’s security level has been increased to Y-Plus due to threats from Lawrence Bishnoi and another gangster, Goldy Brar. This allows the actor to carry a personal firearm and drive an armored vehicle. Tiger Zinda Hai
