Patanjali Criticized by Supreme Court for Exploiting Entire Country

The Supreme Court has issued a contempt notice to Patanjali Ayurved, co-owned by yoga guru Ramdev, for issuing misleading advertisements. The court has also instructed the company not to defame any system of medicine.

It has criticized the Centre for not taking action in this regard. The court has cautioned Patanjali Ayurved against making any statements against any system of medicine in the media and has questioned the company’s claims of providing “permanent relief” and curing specific diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, and obesity.

The court has emphasized that claiming complete cures for such conditions and criticizing allopathy is unacceptable. The court has also expressed concern about the government’s inaction in this matter, stating that such misleading advertisements are prohibited by law and that the government has not taken appropriate steps to address the issue.
