Report Reveals PCB’s Suggestion to ICC: India to Participate in Champions Trophy in Pakistan?

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to host the Champions Trophy in 2025, with three cities – Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore – chosen as venues for the tournament. The final will take place in Lahore. The ICC general manager, Wasim Khan, visited Lahore recently to discuss the tournament arrangements with PCB top officials. It was suggested that the travel itinerary for the Indian team be kept to a minimum.

According to a PCB source, India may play its initial qualifying round games in Karachi before moving on to the venues for the knockouts. Due to restrictions on cricket engagements outside ICC tournaments, the Indian cricket team has not played in Pakistan since 2008. Last year, the Indian cricket board did not send the national team for the Asia Cup, which was ultimately held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid model. The source also mentioned that stadium renovation work would start soon, with the tournament expected to be held in February-March 2025.
