Air Force Soldier Killed, 5 Injured In Terrorist Attack On Convoy In J&K Poonch admin, May 4, 2024 Five individuals were injured in an attack near Shahsitar in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Of the five, one airman is reportedly in critical condition. They were airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for further treatment. Following the attack, reinforcement was rushed to the area and counter-terror operations are currently underway. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit initiated cordon and search operations in the area, according to sources in the security forces. The Indian Air Force confirmed the attack on its convoy and stated that it had been secured. The convoy was targeted by militants as it traveled from Jaranwali to the air force station. This incident marks the first major attack on the armed forces in the region this year. Visuals from after the attack showed bullet holes on the vehicle’s windscreen, and the terrorists, armed with AK assault rifles, are believed to have fled into the nearby forests. Despite searches conducted by the police and paramilitary forces in Poonch following prior intelligence about the movement of suspected individuals, no arrests were made.
