Mayawati removes nephew Akash Anand from political position within the party.

Akash Anand was dropped from his political responsibilities after he compared the BJP with Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban in a recent speech. His aunt, Mayawati, announced the decision on social media, stating that he is “being separated” from his duties “until he attains full maturity.”

She also mentioned that his father, Anand Kumar, will continue to fulfill his party responsibilities. In his speech, Anand had called the government a “bulldozer government” and accused it of being traitorous.

He further alleged that the BJP is corrupt and accused them of taking Rs 6,000 crore through electoral bonds. This led to a case being filed against him for Model Code violation, prompting the cancellation of his upcoming rallies.

Mayawati had earlier named Anand as her political heir, and the announcement of his separation from his responsibilities came as the third phase of the election concluded. The BSP, which has considerable support from the state’s Dalits, is contesting the election independently.

Anand had entered politics officially in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
