Court Accuses Brij Bhushan from BJP with Adequate Evidence Against Accused No.1 admin, May 10, 2024 The Rouse Avenue court has set the date for the next hearing in the case to be on May 21. The court has stated that there is enough evidence to proceed with the trial against Brij Bhushan. This decision comes in the wake of the BJP’s announcement of not fielding Brij Bhushan as a candidate for the Kaiserganj constituency, opting for his son Karan Bhushan Singh instead. The court has ordered the framing of charges against Brij Bhushan under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code, including outraging a woman’s modesty, sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and stalking. The court also noted that charges should be framed against Vinod Tomar, the former assistant secretary of the Federation, under a specific section of the IPC. Brij Bhushan, a six-time MP, has faced significant political backlash since last year when he was accused of sexual harassment. Protests led by prominent athletes and suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India’s managing committee ensued. Despite the charges, Brij Bhushan has consistently maintained his innocence. The BJP’s nomination of his son as a candidate for the Kaiserganj seat drew criticism and a strong statement from one of the leading protesters, Sakshee Malikkh. Following the court’s order, Malikkh expressed that it was a “small step towards victory.” In summary, the court’s decision to proceed with the trial against Brij Bhushan and the related developments have put the case at the center of a heated political and social controversy.
