Arvind Kejriwal’s Aide Faces Assault Charge After Swati Maliwal Complaint admin, May 16, 2024 AAP MP Swati Maliwal, formerly the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, was reportedly taken to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences for a medical test following a complaint against Bibhav Kumar. According to sources, Ms. Maliwal expressed that she had experienced something very bad and difficult, and had given her statement to the police on the incident that occurred to her. She further stated that she hoped for appropriate action to be taken and expressed gratitude to those who prayed for her. The Delhi Police recorded Ms. Maliwal’s statement and filed a case against Arvind Kejriwal’s aide. A police team later met with Ms. Maliwal to seek details and record a statement, following the alleged assault. The National Commission for Women issued a summons to Mr. Kumar, and the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him for assault, criminal intimidation, and outraging a woman’s modesty under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police confirmed receiving calls from an unknown person within Arvind Kejriwal’s residence alerting them to the harassment, from a phone number registered to Ms. Maliwal. However, Ms. Maliwal later appeared at a police station in the area, but left without filing a complaint. This incident has sparked a controversy, with statements being made by various political figures. The row over the alleged assault on Ms. Maliwal has also prompted a reaction from the AAP’s ally, the Congress, as the parties are part of the opposition bloc in the ongoing Lok Sabha election. The BJP’s Arvinder Singh Lovely condemned the treatment of Ms. Maliwal and raised questions on the administration’s ability to ensure women’s safety. The row has resulted in a back-and-forth between the AAP and the BJP, with both parties making strong statements in response to the incident. Swati Maliwal
