Nirmala Sitharaman Criticizes Arvind Kejriwal in Swati Maliwal Assault Controversy

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently spoke at a press conference held at the BJP’s Delhi headquarters. She raised concerns about an alleged assault that took place at Arvind Kejriwal’s home, where she accused his right-hand man of being involved. Sitharaman called on Kejriwal to apologize for the incident and criticized his association with the accused aide.

She also referred to previous cases of women being attacked by AAP leaders, including the party’s candidate for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat. Furthermore, Sitharaman criticized the AAP for not fielding any female candidates in Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats. The AAP has not yet responded to these criticisms.

On a related note, Delhi Police spoke to the victim, Ms. Maliwal, at her residence, following which she made her first public comment on the incident, describing it as “very bad.” According to a senior AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal had ordered strict action to be taken in the matter. Meanwhile, the accusations gained traction as Kejriwal evaded questions from reporters on the topic.
