Pema Khandu becomes Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh admin, June 12, 2024 Pema Khandu has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third time following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Assembly polls. The ceremony took place in Itanagar, where Governor KT Parnaik administered the oath to Khandu and eleven other members of the cabinet. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with other prominent leaders, attended the event. Chowna Mein is set to be the Deputy Chief Minister in the new Arunachal cabinet, while the other cabinet members are Biyuram Wagha, Nyato Dukam, Ganriel Denwang Wangsu, Wanki Lowang, Pasang Dorjee Sona, Mama Natung, Dasanglu Pul, Balo Raja, Kento Jini, and Ojing Tasing. The BJP secured 46 out of the 60 seats in the Arunachal Assembly during the state polls. Pema Khandu, a former Congress leader, became Chief Minister in 2016, succeeding Nabam Tuki. Following a political shift from the Congress to the BJP ally, People’s Party of Arunachal, Khandu faced suspension, and later went on to secure his majority in the Assembly with support from the BJP. He led the BJP to victory in the 2019 Assembly polls and recently repeated this achievement in the latest election. After the state poll results were declared, Khandu expressed his gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and their trust in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
