Court ruling against Leena Paulose, wife of conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, in extortion case. admin, June 15, 2024 Leena Paulose had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) against the Delhi High Court’s order. The SLP was dismissed by a vacation bench of Justices PV Sanjay Kumar and Augustine George Masih on June 14. The bench also dismissed pending applications related to the case. The SLP was filed in response to the High Court’s adjournment of her bail plea to July. The bench noted that the plea was filed on May 14 and a notice was issued on May 20. The top court observed that Ms. Paulose had been in prison for two years and eight months and commented on the request for an expedited order. When the counsel requested expedited proceedings, the bench stated that it was not their role to arrange the board of the High Court. According to the prosecution, Mr. Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Paulose, were allegedly involved in running an organized crime syndicate with their associates since 2013, with the aim of gaining financially through cheating and extortion. Both Mr. Chandrasekhar and his wife were arrested by the Delhi Police in September 2021 and are presently in judicial custody.
