Shiv Sena (UBT) to contest Mumbai North West Lok Sabha result in court admin, June 17, 2024 Aditya Thackeray, addressing a press conference, expressed his party’s intention to file a petition in court regarding “electoral malpractice” in the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat, where Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Amol Kirtikar lost by 48 votes. Thackeray referred to the election result as a “fraud” and criticized the Election Commission, claiming that the process was compromised. Thackeray asserted that if the election process had been “free and fair,” the BJP would have won only 40 Lok Sabha seats instead of 240. He accused the official machinery of being misused and stated their plan to file an election petition challenging the result of the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat. He also expressed the party’s expectation for the Election Commission to take suo motu action, or else they would pursue a legal battle. Anil Parab, a Sena (UBT) leader, highlighted the suspicious nature of the election result and announced their plan to take legal action for the misuse of official machinery under the Representation of the People Act. Parab emphasized the lack of transparency in the counting process and the discrepancy in the number of votes tallied, citing the issues with the distance between the returning officer and counting agents and the absence of key forms documenting the number of votes polled. Additionally, the Vanrai police in Mumbai have registered a case against Waikar’s brother-in-law for allegedly using a mobile phone at a counting center. Parab raised concerns about the unauthorized use of a mobile phone and called for an investigation into the constant phone calls received by the returning officer of the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat.
