He highlighted that June 25th marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency and called it a “black spot” on the country’s democracy. The Prime Minister, who has started his third term after an election that denied the BJP a clear majority, assured the people that the government will work three times more in its third term and deliver three times more. He expressed gratitude to the people for choosing the government for the third term, stating that it signifies their confidence in the government’s intent, policies, and dedication. Referring to the Emergency imposed by the then Indira Gandhi government, he emphasized the importance of not forgetting how the Indian Constitution was scrapped and the country was turned into a jail. He urged the new generation to remember this milestone and take a pledge that it never happens again.
