Tiger Captured After Killing 4 Cows in 2 Days in Kerala Village admin, June 24, 2024 A tiger, known as ‘Tholpetty 7’, recently caused panic in the Kenichira region by killing four cows in just two days. The forest department managed to trap the animal around 11 pm on Sunday. It was caught at the cowsheds where it had previously attacked the cattle. After conducting preliminary health examinations, officials suspect that the tiger may have major health issues and is not fit for survival in the wild. Given the tiger’s condition, the Forest Department is considering transferring it to a zoo in the state after providing necessary medical assistance. Local residents protested, demanding safety and protection for their lives and livelihoods, displaying the carcasses of the dead cows in a vehicle. To address the situation, district authorities and the Forest Department took steps to trap the animal in a cage and were prepared to tranquilize it if necessary. The Forest Department announced an advance payment of Rs 30,000 as solatium to the affected farmers, with the rest of the amount to be handed over after completing post-mortem procedures on the cow carcasses.
